Halloween Fondue
Hmm, can you make fondue with leftover Halloween candy? I'm envisioning melting the chocolate and dipping the rest - chocolate covered candy corn? Would it work or be a mess with the melty/unmelty chocolate. Might have to try that one with the Things. Thing 1 is going to Bingo at school with DH, maybe Thing 2 and I will do it - he's my junkfood junkie anyway, Thing 1 eats much more healthy.

The Americano
Ah the bitter taste of the Americano -reported to be the drink of James Bond. I bought Campari over the summer to try out another drink, a version of the Negroni. Do not be fooled by the color (as I was!). Campari is an Italian bitter. The sweet vermouth does not increase the sweetness. This is an interesting drink to say the least and, at least for me, an acquired taste. I ended up cheating and adding in a little ginger ale to make it more palatable. I'm just not ready for bitters full on.
Americano
1 1/2 oz. Campari
1 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
cold club soda
slice of orange, lemon or lime
Pour Campari and vermouth over ice in a glass (calls for a highball but I don't own that type of glass)
then fill with cold club soda. Garnish with a slice of orange, lemon or lime.

Hpnotiq
I was all set to make The Scorpio - a sloe gin drink this evening -I even remembered to get the ginger ale. However, a second (or third) glance at the cocktail recipe made me realize I had missed the bit about the grated peeled fresh ginger. Knowing the potency of fresh ginger, I couldn't bring myself to make it without it. (Man am I going to be disappointed if when I finally make this drink I hate it!). So I settled on making something with the Hpnotiq that I convinced DH to buy me on a trip to the liqour store downtown. The result was a Hpnot-tini. Pretty good inspite of the fact that I generally don't care for pineapple-tinged drinks. I took a photo with my phone, as soon as I locate the USB connector cable, I'll post but for now, picture muddied Windex in a cute cocktail glass (missing the slice of lemon as we were out).

Class
The first of my two classes that I have to take in order to renew my state teaching license has begun. I'm taking the course through the online university, University of Phoenix. The course is called Teaching with the Internet and it is a compressed course which means it is only three weeks long. This is both good and bad. Good in that, in three weeks I will be finished and I will be halfway to recertification. Bad in that there is a ton of work and a ton of reading and a ton of writing (and I am procrastinating instead of doing it!!). Like a lot of things, I will be glad when I'm finished with it (sort of like the 5K race I ran the other weekend) but while I'm in the moment, not so much fun.
