Saturday Stealing: The Over the Top Meme

    Part One – Describe:

Your hair?Very curly/frizzy, long and dark (although I prefer to call it brown, others insist it is black)

Your mother?  not sure what this refers to -as in yes, I have a mother?

    Your father?
    See above.

    Your favorite food?
    Chocolate chip cookies

    Your dream last night?
About sending out Christmas cards -don't remember the details but I had the wrong cards and had already sent some out

    Your favorite drink?
Cosmopolitan - love the limey/twist of orange triple sec/cranberry goodness of it all

    Non-Alcoholic? Diet Coke

    Your dream/goal?
Being an elementary school librarian in a sunny, book filled library

The room are you in?My messy, messy home office.  At least it's mine.

    Your hobby?
Too many to count!  Reading, scrapbooking, making crafts...

Your fear? Fear of drowning.  For this reason, I avoid putting my head under the water at the pool.  My fellow mom friends think it's because I don't want to get my hair wet.  Hate the sensation of being underwater.  Perhaps this is because I'm a fire-sign -Leo?

    Your TV?
Uh, yeah, check that, we have one.

Your Pets? Sadly, due to allergies (not mine!) we have none.  If I had my way we'd have a cat.  Note -I do not have my way.

    Friends?
Yes, have fellow mom friends to commiserate with.

    Your life?
Good, can't really complain.  (Not that it stops me from complaining as I'm pretty good at complaining!)

    Your mood?
Anxious - need to finish a paper for class and don't want to do it.

    If you’re missing someone?
    Not really.

    Your best friend?
Don't have one, haven't had one in many years although I would like to have someone to call up on the phone and say, "Guess what?!" when things happen.

    Part Two – The Where’s?

Where do you want to be in 6 years?
Alive would be good. Healthy and alive would be a bonus!

    Where were you last night?
In my house watching a recorded episode of Hero's with DH

    Where did you grow up?Virginia

One place that you go to over and over?
    The library.

Your favorite place to eat out?
Anywhere that isn't fast food - I love to eat in restaurants!!

    Wish list items?
iPod Nano with FM receiver so I can use it at the gym to watch the TV's and don't have to carry both my Shuffle and my MP3player with FM receiver.

    Last time you laughed?
Not sure but it was probably recent, I like to laugh.

    Something you’re not wearing?
    shoes, unless slippers count

    Your favorite store?
clothing stores - they hold such possiblities

  • Halloween Fondue

Hmm, can you make fondue with leftover Halloween candy?  I'm envisioning melting the chocolate and dipping the rest - chocolate covered candy corn?  Would it work or be a mess with the melty/unmelty chocolate.  Might have to try that one with the Things.  Thing 1 is going to Bingo at school with DH, maybe Thing 2 and I will do it - he's my junkfood junkie anyway, Thing 1 eats much more healthy.

  • The Americano

Ah the bitter taste of the Americano -reported to be the drink of James Bond.  I bought Campari over the summer to try out another drink, a version of the Negroni.  Do not be fooled by the color (as I was!).  Campari is an Italian bitter.  The sweet vermouth does not increase the sweetness.  This is an interesting drink to say the least and, at least for me, an acquired taste.  I ended up cheating and adding in a little ginger ale to make it more palatable.  I'm just not ready for bitters full on.

    Americano
    1 1/2 oz. Campari
    1 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
    cold club soda
slice of orange, lemon or lime

Pour Campari and vermouth over ice in a glass (calls for a highball but I don't own that type of glass)
then fill with cold club soda.  Garnish with a slice of orange, lemon or lime.

  • Hpnotiq

I was all set to make The Scorpio - a sloe gin drink this evening -I even remembered to get the ginger ale.  However, a second (or third) glance at the cocktail recipe made me realize I had missed the bit about the grated peeled fresh ginger.  Knowing the potency of fresh ginger, I couldn't bring myself to make it without it.  (Man am I going to be disappointed if when I finally make this drink I hate it!).  So I settled on making something with the Hpnotiq that I convinced DH to buy me on a trip to the liqour store downtown.  The result was a Hpnot-tini.  Pretty good inspite of the fact that I generally don't care for pineapple-tinged drinks.  I took a photo with my phone, as soon as I locate the USB connector cable, I'll post but for now, picture muddied Windex in a cute cocktail glass (missing the slice of lemon as we were out).

  • Class

The first of my two classes that I have to take in order to renew my state teaching license has begun. I'm taking the course through the online university, University of Phoenix. The course is called Teaching with the Internet and it is a compressed course which means it is only three weeks long. This is both good and bad. Good in that, in three weeks I will be finished and I will be halfway to recertification. Bad in that there is a ton of work and a ton of reading and a ton of writing (and I am procrastinating instead of doing it!!). Like a lot of things, I will be glad when I'm finished with it (sort of like the 5K race I ran the other weekend) but while I'm in the moment, not so much fun.
